Sean An

Sean is an associate lawyer with Lindsay LLP. He is involved in a variety of claims, including property loss, construction and personal injury claims.

Sean obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of British Columbia and a Juris Doctorate from the Peter A. Allard School of Law. He joined Lindsay LLP as an articling student, and was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2023. His previous practice experience includes working at a full-service firm.

During law school, Sean volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and Legal Education Outreach.

Outside of the office Sean enjoys golfing, eating pasta and is involved at his local church.

Hue T. Dinh

Hue’s practice focuses on insurance litigation matters with an emphasis on personal injury, motor vehicle claims, construction defects and property loss/subrogated claims. Hue has represented clients before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the Provincial Court of British Columbia.

Prior to joining Lindsay LLP, Hue practiced at a boutique litigation firm in Vancouver handling motor vehicle claims and general civil litigation matters. She also has experience in administrative law, and estate and strata litigation.

Hue graduated with a J.D. from the University of British Columbia. While at law school, she was a student clinician with the UBC Innocence Project, an organization that investigates claims of wrongful convictions. In addition, Hue acted as a research assistant for the FREDA Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children with Pro Bono Students Canada, a program that provides legal services free of charge to organizations and individuals.

When she is not in the office, Hue enjoys trying new recipes and spending time with her family.

Andrew N. Epstein

Vanessa C. Gauthier

Vanessa Gauthier’s legal career has taken her from the coast of Newfoundland to two coasts in Australia and back again to Canada (albeit to a different coast). She’s developed notable insurance litigation expertise and leadership skills along the way.

Vanessa now uses those skills to manage her busy insurance litigation practice. Most of her work focuses on negotiating and resolving disputes related to motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, occupier’s liability and products liability.  Having been legal counsel for the Workplace Health Safety & Compensation Commission in Newfoundland and Labrador and represented self-insured employers, she has gained invaluable experience in risk management and claims involving workplace accidents, particularly in the mining, transportation, manufacturing and retail sectors.

Known for her pragmatic approach, Vanessa is one of our firm’s “go-to” experts on reaching reasonable dispute resolutions. She invests a lot of time in mentoring junior lawyers both inside and outside the office, offering wise advice to help move matters – and careers – forward.

Christopher J. Hope

Chris is an experienced civil litigator who has represented clients with insurance, employment, estate, administrative, and criminal law issues since 1999.  He currently focuses mainly on insurance and civil litigation matters and has appeared in all levels of court in B.C.

Chris acts for plaintiffs and insurers in property damage, personal injury, and other matters.  He also practices in estates, human rights, property assessment, and employment law.

Chris is our in-house authority on assessing costs in motor vehicle accident litigation. He writes a chapter on this topic in the annually updated British Columbia Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Practice Manual and has authored a book, Plus TC&D: The Assessment of Costs and Disbursements in Motor Vehicle Injury Litigation,  the most recent edition of which (the Sixth Edition) was published in 2022 by the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC.

Outside the office, Chris always has several projects on the go.  He is a director of multiple boards, including a long-term care home and a community recreational sporting association.  He was a member of the Property Assessment Appeal Board for 12 years, and also previously acted as an arbitrator for Translink fare infraction appeals and was a member of the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal.  In 2015, he co-produced an award-winning feature-length film.  He is also a licensed commercial helicopter pilot.

Michael J. Jackson

Michael Jackson is a founding partner of Lindsay LLP, and is an experienced insurance litigation lawyer, having appeared at all levels of court, up to and including the Supreme Court of Canada (London Drugs Ltd. v. Kuehne & Nagel International Ltd. et al). His clients include general property, casualty and professional liability insurers.

Michael was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia in 1975 and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Victoria in 1981. He was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1982.

Michael has practiced general insurance litigation since 1982, with a particular emphasis on products liability, occupier’s liability, personal/bodily injury (including catastrophic injury and fatal accident claims), motor carrier cargo claims and industrial accident claims (including fires, gas explosions and blasting). He also handles claims relating to construction, mining, trucking, entertainment and sports liability, motor vehicle, highway maintenance, commercial/social host liquor liability and professional liability. In addition, Michael provides advice and legal opinion on insurance coverage to general property, casualty, professional liability and travel accident insurers.

Michael has spoken at various industry events and to various industry groups, including the Canadian Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the Canadian and British Columbia Adjusters Associations. He has also spoken at Continuing Legal Education conferences, and in-house client seminars.

Michael is married with three children and lives in North Vancouver, where he enjoys a wide range of sports, including squash, soccer, skiing, sailing and cycling, as well as music, reading and travel.

Daniel M. Jeffrey

Daniel Jeffrey is an insurance litigator whose practice is focused on matters involving personal injuries that result from motor vehicle collisions and other accidents. He serves clients as plaintiff counsel and defence counsel.

Daniel manages all aspects of client matters, whether they are resolved through alternative dispute resolution or proceed to trial.

Raised in Richmond, B.C., Dan now lives in Vancouver. If he’s not in the office, he can often be found playing ice hockey, enjoying one of the city’s many cycling routes or on a local tennis court.

Jocelyn Lau

Jocelyn is an associate lawyer with Lindsay LLP. Her practice focuses on insurance defence.

Jocelyn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of British Columbia. She obtained her Master of Arts in Law from the University of Bristol in England, and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2020.

During her legal studies, Jocelyn was a member of a small group part of the Innocence Project UK, reviewing cases and applications of individuals who alleged to have suffered a miscarriage of justice. She also volunteered as a legal advocate for Access Pro Bono in the Mental Heath Program and Residential Tendency Program.

Outside of the office, Jocelyn enjoys hiking, kayaking, photography, and learning tennis.

Monica Monroy

Monica J. Monroy is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on insurance defence and motor vehicle collision injury claims.

Monica gained experience with insurance defence cases while working as in-house counsel with a large insurance corporation. She has represented clients in both the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She is experienced with alternative dispute resolution procedures and has represented clients in mediation and in settlement conferences.

Monica completed her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Victoria. From 1994 to 2005, Monica lived and worked in Barcelona, Spain.

Natalie Parsonage

Natalie Parsonage is a civil litigator who defends the interests of insurers and their insureds in claims arising out of motor vehicle, personal injury, property damage, and other accidents.

Prior to joining Lindsay LLP, Natalie practiced at a Vancouver firm where she often appeared as co-counsel in complex B.C. Supreme Court trials involving motor vehicle related personal injury claims. Natalie was also an associate at a large Vancouver firm where she served as co-counsel in a lengthy medical malpractice trial.  She has experience in matters involving judicial reviews, commercial litigation, employment and environmental law.

Natalie is committed to using her legal skills to give back to the community. She volunteers as a mentor to students at the Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law and is a Director of the Vancouver Law Courts Inn Society.
