Lindsay LLP is seeking a full time Legal Administrative Assistant with experience in insurance defence practice. An ideal candidate for this position is an energetic, self-starter with qualifications, skills and experience, including the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in ICBC defence or general insurance defence practice;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including composing, editing and proofreading;
  • Ability to handle a busy practice and multitask;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion and maintain confidentiality; and
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a legal team.

Duties for the position include the following:

  • Schedule mediations, independent medical examinations, appointments and maintain electronic calendars;
  • Organize files, document binders, and other file related materials on an ongoing basis;
  • Draft correspondence and attend to court filings;
  • Working with a Trial Coordinator to schedule examination for discovery and trials; and
  • Prepare and maintain BF system and limitation systems in accordance with the firm’s policy and practice.

Candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • A solid understanding of civil litigation procedures;
  • Proficient with Word, Outlook, and E-filing of court documents; and
  • Knowledge in Worldox Document Management System will be an asset.

Articled Student

Lindsay LLP is seeking an articled student who is motivated to succeed and whose level of academic achievement demonstrates the ability to provide high quality legal work.  

The successful candidate will develop skills in legal research, drafting pleadings and reports, attending court and examinations for discovery, and other matters.  Lindsay LLP is committed to provide an exceptional mentoring experience for its students from partners and senior counsel.  The successful candidate will be exposed to a wide range of practice areas and will take on responsibility for many different tasks, providing an invaluable articling experience.  Students are also eligible for and expected to undertake continuing legal education in relevant practice areas.  Lindsay LLP typically has one or two students at any one time and often keeps students on as associates after their call to the bar.
